Congress president Sonia Gandhi [Images] and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil Tuesday night visited the Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi, which was rocked by a powerful blast.

Sonia and Patil saw the spot where the blast took place soon after arriving from Delhi.

Later, the two leaders visited the Benaras Hindu University Hospital where the injured are undergoing treatment.

Sonia and Patil are in Varanasi to make a first hand assessment of the explosion that also rocked the cantonment railway station, and the situation arising out of the incidents.
