1 killed in J&K attack

A paramilitary soldier was killed and four officials of  the Central Reserve Police Force were injured when militants attacked a guard checking party of the CRPF with a powerful hand grenade at Khanyar in downtown Srinagar [Images] late Sunday afternoon.

Police said militants tossed a hand grenade at the CRPF guard checking party, which exploded injuring five CRPF officials including a deputy commandant.

The injured were taken to the various hospitals in Srinagar where  one CRPF trooper succumbed to his injuries.

CRPF and police jointly searched the area.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
