N D Tiwari quits as Uttaranchal CM

Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari today quit from the post and sent his resignation to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

"I have turned 81 and no person of my age is serving as chief minister in the country," Tiwari told reporters, adding that although he wants to quit politics, he would continue to participate in social life.

He said he has requested the party president to relieve him from ofice within a month.
