Bush promises wife a Taj trip next time
March 02, 2006 18:15 IST
"I am sorry. May be next time."

This is what President George W Bush [Images] promised to his wife Laura Bush about paying a visit to the Taj Mahal [Images] which they could not make this time round.

"I am sorry for not making it to the Taj Mahal. I have been hearing about it from Laura for several years now. We will come back ... and we will be able to see the magnificent Taj Mahal", Bush said in response to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's [Images] remarks that he was "truly sorry" that the US President could not take his wife to the Taj Mahal this time.

At the banquet, Singh told the First Lady "I am truly sorry that the President is not taking you to Taj Mahal this time! I hope he will be more chivalrous the next time you are here!"

The entire exchange between Bush and Singh evoked laughter and applause from the whole lot of VIP guests present at the banquet.
