Dates announced for five-state polls

Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon on Wednesday announced the dates for Assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala [Images], Tripura, Pondicherry.

In Assam, the polls will be held in two phases on April 3 and 10.

Elections for West Bengal Assembly will be held in five phases on April 17, 22, 27 and May 3 and 8.

Tamil Nadu and Tripura will have a one-day poll on May 8.

A three-phase election will be held for the Kerala Assembly on April 22, 29 and May 3. Pondicherry too will have one-day poll on May 8.

Counting of votes in all the states will take place on May 11.
