Begging in Thiruvananthapuram has been banned from Thursday and those found doing so will be sent to a special rehabilitation centre set up by the Municipal Corporation.

An order to this effect was issued by the district collector on Wednesday.

The order said that persons seen begging by the police would be presented before the Juvenile Court if they were below 16 years and those older would produced before the Magistrate Court.

Do you think this is a justified move? Or, is it harsh to completely ban begging? Tell us.
