BSF man killed in Bangla firing

A Border Secrurity Force personnel and two civilians, one Bangladeshi and one Indian, were killed as Bangladesh Rifles and the BSF exchanged gunshots at Padma Shakhra frontier in the Bangladesh's western frontier bordering West Bengal.

Major Humayun Kabir, deputy commander of BSF 41 Rifles Battalion, on Tuesday said BDR jawans fired at the BSF troops of Chholadana camp who entered into Bangladesh territory while on a patrol in the Ichhamati river on Monday night.

The BSF personnel retaliated and in the ensuing gunbattle, a jawan was killed.

BDR sources said the deceased personnel had been identified as Rajendra Sharma of Chholadana camp in Bashirhat of Uttar Chabbish Pargona in West Bengal.

The two civilians were identified as Babu Sharma of India and Shariful Islam of Bangladesh.
