Embroiled in a drug abuse controversy, Rahul Mahajan was produced before a special court on Monday, after the Delhi police filed a revision petition challenging a Metropolitan Magistrate's power to try the narcotics case.

Special Judge N K Gupta heard arguments on the petition, which said that the bail hearing posted by the Metropolitan Magistrate for Tuesday be heard by the special court.

Co-accused in the case Sahil Zaroo, whose judicial remand ends on Monday, was also produced before the special court.

The Maharashtra police will also be filing an application for transfer of custody of Sahil to them for trial in connection with a shahtoosh smuggling case pending for the last few months, in which Sahil is absconding.

The Delhi police had filed an application on Sunday before the special judge challenging the powers of a metropolitan court here to try the case against Rahul, son of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, and sought its transfer to a special court.

Accepting the application, the special court directed police to produce Rahul, now lodged in Tihar jail for further
hearing on the application.
