Assam blasts: 1 dead, 24 hurt

Hours after a statement issued by the commander-in-chief of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom denying its involvement in explosions across the state the past two days, another series of explosions took place on Saturday evening.

Police have said that one person was killed and at least 24 others injured as militants suspected to belong to the ULFA detonated a series of explosions.

One person died and 17 others sustained injuries when a grenade exploded under a flyover at Ganeshguri on the busy G S Road near the capital complex at Dispur.

In another explosion near a Railway Protection Force camp at Bamunimaidan area left at least four injured while two other explosions at Sivasagar in Upper Assam left at least three injured.

Police have said that a crude oil pipeline of Oil India Limited at Hapjan in Tinsukia district of Upper Assam was damaged in another explosion triggered at around 7 pm on Saturday.
