Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gopinath Munde on Monday said the condition of Rahul Mahajan, undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital, had improved and he was in a position to give a statement to police.

Talking to reporters at Vidhan Bhavan, Munde denied reports that Rahul had consumed drugs.

"The quantity of cocaine shown in the medical tests was within permissible limits, which can be found in any human being," he said.

Asked if BJP had distanced itself from the Rahul Mahajan incident, Munde said he did not think so.

BJP president, vice president and other senior leaders had visited Apollo Hospital to enquire about Rahul's condition, he said.

"Several BJP leaders have spoken to me seeking information about Rahul's condition," he said.
