Seven members of a family, including four teenaged girls and a 7-year-old boy, were found murdered at their residence in Inderlok locality of North Delhi on Monday, sending shockwaves in the area.

The gruesome murders are suspected to be fallout of a bitter property dispute. The deceased were identified as Omprakash (46), his wife Santhosh (40), their four daughters -- Manju (21), Babita (15), Dolly (13), Pooja (12) -- and their son Aman (7).

The partly-burnt bodies of Omprakash and Santhosh were found at the apartment's ground floor, where the family used to run a small business of mattresses. Their bodies bore injuries inflicted by some sharp weapon. The other four bodies, with their necks slashed, were found piled one over the other at the first floor, police said.

After preliminary investigation, the police handed over probe to the Crime Branch, which detained a couple of persons, including a neighbour for questioning. "It is a case of murder," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Muktesh Chander told PTI. Meanwhile, Omprakash's relatives have reportedly told the police that he had some property dispute with neighbours.
