Two persons were killed and six injured, four of them seriously, in an explosion which ripped through a bus between Dobhi and Barachati villages on the Grand Trunk Road in Bihar's Gaya district on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Amit Jain told PTI that the crude bomb, apparently planted by the Naxalites [Images], went off when the bus approached a petrol pump.

While two persons died on the spot, six others, who suffered splinter injuries, were admitted to a government hospital at Dobhi where condition of four was stated to be critical.

A portion of the bus was also damaged in the explosion, he said.

No arrest has so far been made in connection with the incident, Jain said, adding that it was not immediately known whether those killed or injured had any links with Naxalites.
