The Maharashtra government has decided to set up an experts' committee to suggest ways of strengthening security of big cities in the state in the wake of the July 11 serial blasts.

Announcing this at a press conference after a state cabinet meeting, deputy chief minister R R Patil said on Wednesday  that the committee would comprise senior and retired officials from concerned departments.

The committee will submit its report to the state government after which appropriate steps would be taken to boost security measures, he said.
