Pakistan-based terrorists are taking advantage of the porous Indo-Nepal border to sneak into the country and New Delhi has taken up the "security concern" with Kathmandu. The government has approved deployment of 20 new battalions of Shashastra Seema Bal to further enhance security along the Indo-Nepal border, Minister of State for Home S Regupathy told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

The SSB has been designated as the force to guard this frontier, he said in a written reply. "Security concerns were also discussed with the government of Nepal in a bilateral mechanism established by both the countries for this purpose," he said.

"The government is fully aware of the need for proper surveillance along the international borders to check any activities prejudicial to the country," he added. To another question, he said the government was aware that the number of madrassas near the Indo-Nepal border had shown an increase.
