Bomb scare at Red Fort, India Gate

July 24, 2006 13:54 IST

A massive search is on at the Red Fort and the India Gate after police received anonymous phone calls claiming that explosives had been placed at the historic monuments.

Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs have been rushed to both the sites and a massive search is being carried out after evacuting the visitors from the monuments, a senior police official said on Monday.

Two fire tenders each have been rushed to the India Gate and the Red Fort as a precautionary measure.

Delhi has witnessed a series of hoax bomb calls since the serial blasts in Mumbai.
