Mumbai: Youth held for making prank bomb calls

Police have arrested a youth from Meghwadi in suburban Jogeshwari of north-east Mumbai for allegedly making prank calls informing them that bombs had been planted at public places.

The suspect, arrested on Tuesday, had called up the city police control room from a PCO near a grocery shop earlier this week, police on Wednesday said adding, the grocery shop owner helped police in tracing the suspect.

Inspector Jaideep Surve of Mehgwadi police station told reporters that the youth was suspected to have made the calls as a prank, but he was being further interrogated.

The youth was produced in court and has been remanded to police custody till July 26, police said.
