One civilian passersby was killed and 6 wounded in a militant grenade explosion on a paramilitary bunker in Beehama Chowk, 22 km from Srinagar on the strategic Srinagar-Leh national highway.
Police said militants threw a grenade at a bunker of the paramilitary central reserve police force in Beehama Chowk in north Kashmir Ganderbal town on Saturday afternoon. "The grenade missed the target and exploded on the road causing injuries to four civilians," said a senior police officer.
"They were taken to local hospital for treatment where one of them succumbed to his injuries." It is important to mention that presently pilgrims going to the Amarnath cave Shrine use the Srinagar-Leh national highway to reach the Baltal base camp of the pilgrimage.
