Babloo Srivastava, underworld don, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court for the murder of businessman Lalit Suneja. Suneja was allegedly murdered by the don and two of his accomplices in 1992.

While Om Prakash Srivastava alias Babloo Srivastava and N Shah were convicted, third accused Manjit was let off in  the case for lack of evidence.

The matter was being heard by Judge Rajinder Kumar in a fast track court.

Out of 32 witnesses, 31 had turned hostile. Babloo plans to appeal against the judgement in the Delhi high court.

The judgement will hit his political ambitions and will disqualify him for contesting in the elections.

"There was enough evidence against the accused in this case and I think the judgement is correct," said an advocate who at one point of time was his counsel, but later withdrew from the case.

"They have convicted me on the evidence of a single witness and that too a policeman. What kind of judgement is this?" a furious Babloo Srivastava told newsmen after the judgement was read out in a packed court.
