Mild quake rocks J&K

A moderate intensity tremor on Wednesday jolted the India-Pakistan border region of Jammu and Kashmir [Images], which was devastated by a major earthquake in October 2005.

The quake, measuing 5.0 on the Richter scale, was felt at 11:19 pm IST, the Indian Meteorological Department said.

The epicentre of the earthquake lay in India-Pakistan border region of Jammu and Kashmir.

A massive earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale had rocked North India, Pakistan and Afghanistan on October eight, 2005, killing thousands of people and causing largescale demage to property.
