Accusing the opposition for the presence of bogus voters in electoral rolls, the ruling Left Front in West Bengal Monday urged the visiting Election Commission observers to go for a thorough scrutiny and remove all fake names.

The Left Front partners welcomed the visit of the 19-member team ahead of Assembly elections and said the EC representatives had every right to supervise poll preparations, but they must ensure that the names of genuine voters were on the list.

"We do not want to see the names of bogus voters on the electoral rolls. The EC must scrap all such names and ensure that genuine voters are protected," Left Front committee chairman Biman Bose said at a meeting in Kolkata.
