The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Thursday declared the spot where 12 tribals were killed in police firing at Kalinga Nagar as 'Veerbhumi'.

These tribals had become martyrs and a gathering will be organised on January 2 every year to pay homage to their sacrifice, JMM supremo Shibu Soren said in Bhubaneswar.

Soren, who was visiting mourning tribals Thursday in Kalinga Nagar, said those killed would be given the same prestige as tribal icon Birsa Munda or Siddhu-Kanu.

"Every year thousands of tribals will converge at the spot on January 2 to remember the sacrifice of the 12 and pay homage," he said.
