Five members of a family, including a woman and three children, were burnt alive allegedly by two of their relatives at Kareli in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh, a police official said on Thursday.
Manoj Nishad, his wife and three of his children were burnt alive allegedly by Nishad's nephews Mahendra and Bhaiya Lal late Wednesday night at Satiapur, Deputy Inspector General (Allahabad Range) Alkhilesh Mehrotra told PTI.
Mahendra had been nursing a grouse against Nishad as the latter did not agree to his proposal to marry the uncle's daughter, he said. Nishad married off his daughter to someone else.
Efforts are on to nab the culprits, Mehrotra added.
