The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested Riyaz Siddiqui, an alleged associate of extradited gangster Abu Salem, for his suspected role in the 1993 bomb blast case. He was produced before a designated TADA court, which remanded him to police custody till January 13.

Judge P D Kode also allowed the CBI to take the accused to Raigad, Thane and nearby areas for purpose of investigations.

Siddiqui is accused of supplying arms to co-accused in the 1993 bomb blast case at the instance of Abu Salem.

He was already in the custody of anti-terrorist squad of Mumbai police for his complicity in Pradeep Jain murder case. On a prosecution plea, TADA court, hearing the 1993 bomb blast case, has granted his custody to CBI.

In the Pradeep Jain murder case, Siddiqui was alleged to have supplied arms to the killers. The CBI suspects that these weapons could have been part of the consignment used in the bomb blasts.
