The bird flu panic continues even in the government, with the Parliament canteen, Indian Airlines, and the Railways suspending the buying and serving of chicken.

The Indian army, too, has declared that it will stop sourcing fowls from parts of Maharashtra from where samples tested positive for the bird flu virus.

The Parliament canteen's decision has, however, been opposed by many parliamentarians.

They feel that since Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has called for calm and said it is safe to eat chicken cooked above 70 degree Celsius, parliamentarians should lead by example.
