The results of the tests on human samples, sent to the National Institute of Virology to see if they are infected with the deadly H5NI strain or not, will be known after four days, NIV sources said Monday."

It would take five days to know the outcome. Since the samples reached the NIV for tests only yesterday, it should take four more days", they added. "We are instructed not to disclose anything. All the information on this will be made public by the Union Health Ministry under which the NIV functions," the sources said, refusing to divulge anything about the source or count of the human samples.

Bird Flu Hits India

The tests are being carried out at the NIV's two campuses located at Dr Ambedkar Road and at Pashan. Meanwhile, the NIV has sent its two teams to the bird flu-hit Navapur in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra on Sunday. The two teams comprised a total of six scientists who would collect samples and conduct tests if need arose at the site itself, they said.
