The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to publish the list of residential premises which are being used for commercial purposes. This list is to be published in newspapers within ten days.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal directed the owners of such premises to stop this misuse within 30 days of the list's publication.

The court said the owners will have to file an affidavit within 30 days with the MCD Commissioner, notifying that they have stopped the misuse, or these residences will be sealed.

It also said that the MCD will start taking action against the major violators on priority.

The Bench clarified that its order is limited only to the misusers of residential complexes and MCD will have to take action first in those areas where there have been major violations. Small shops have been excluded for now.

The MCD has also been asked to file a report on action taken within a fortnight.
