Suspended Samajwadi Party MP Raj Babbar said on Thursday that he will soon float a new party called Samajwadi Manch. It will unite leaders with socialist ideologies and carry forward his battle for a 'clean and secular' polity, he said.

"If I am not expelled from the SP but remain suspended, I will continue to raise these issues through this Manch. If expelled, then I have to think what I have to do," Babbar told reporters, when asked about his future course of action.

He, however, ruled out joining any other party.

"The basic purpose of launching such a manch is to bring together all those socialists who I have worked with since 1967, when I was part of the Samajvadi Yuvjan Sabha," Babbar said.

The actor-turned politician said he would soon meet leaders like Sharad Yadav, George Fernandes [Images], Satyadev Tripathy, Mohan Prakash and others for discussions on socialism, 'which is not seen anywhere in any party'.

Babbar will also be meeting SP leader Janeshwar Mishra on Thursday evening to apprise him of the latest developments, including the developmental projects planned for Agra [Images].

He also made it clear that he will fully cooperate with the two committees appointed by the party leadership to look into the allegations levelled by him against Amar Singh as 'it will give me an opportunity to put forward my viewpoint'.

"I will also ask them whether Amar Singh is the leader of the party or chairman of the Uttar Pradesh development council", Babbar said, adding he had no communication with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in the last eight months.

Emphasising the need for inner party democracy where everybody, including a small worker has freedom to raise his voice, Babbar said, "I will now be on the road, carying forward the socialist ideology through my manch and promoting the voices of the workers."
