India and the United States on Tuesday launched a US-funded anti-trafficking project aimed at strengthening law enforcement to prosecute offenders.
The project, to be taken up through the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, will be carried out in Maharashtra, Goa [Images], West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh initially, an official statement said.
The US has committed two million dollars to support the programme, part of its nearly $ 8 million funding to fight human trafficking in India.
