The Bombay high court on Monday deferred the anticipatory bail plea of suspended encounter specialist Daya Nayak, his wife Komal and associate Rajendra Padte in a disproportionate assets case till Tuesday as arguments were inconclusive.

Nayak and others will continue to get interim protection as the high court has restrained the Anti-Corruption Bureau from arresting them till February 7.

Nayak's lawyer Shirish Gupte argued that custodial interrogation of Nayak was not required as the case against Nayak was one of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income and not criminal in nature.

A special court had earlier rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of the accused.

Komal and Padte have been charged with helping Nayak in laundering the money.
