The government on Tuesday strongly denied a media report that Indian and Pakistani officials had met in Lahore [Images] to discuss President Pervez Musharraf's [Images] four-point proposals on Jammu and Kashmir [Images] and the Siachen issue.

"The report is factually incorrect," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in response to a question.

Reports in a section of the media on Tuesday said India's envoy S K Lambah had held 'back-channel' talks with his Pakistani counterpart Tariq Aziz on Pakistan President's new 'ideas' on Kashmir and push for a forward momentum on the Siachen issue.

The report said a day before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images], during his Punjab visit, reiterated his desire for a peace, security and friendship treaty with Islamabad, Lambah went to Lahore and held 'back-channel' talks with Aziz.
