With the deadline fixed by the Allahabad High Court to vacate Lucknow University hostels expiring  Sunday night, majority of inmates have left the hostel to avoid forceful eviction.

The University Vice Chancellor R P Singh, Divisional Commissioner R K Mittal and senior officials of the police visited university hostels on Sunday to pursuade inmates to vacate them within the stipulated time limit.

Over 90-95 percent inmates have left the hostel and those still there will leave by  Sunday night, a senior univeristy official said.

Meanwhile, the National Eligibility Test passed off peacefully on Sunday in the campus with heavy police force deployed at entry gates to avoid an untoward incident.

The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad had on Friday last directed the students to vacate the hostel by Sunday night or face eviction.
