Opposition members disrupted proceedings of Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly for the second consecutive day on Thursday demanding immediate discussion on violation of land reform laws by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Thirty-five members belonging to Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India-Marxist were suspended from the assembly for the duration of question hour for storming into the well of the House and raising slogans and displaying placards on the issue.

Trouble arose as soon as the assembly sitting commenced in the morning. Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment motion notices given by TDP and TRS on the CM's land issue. He also rejected adjournment notices of the Left parties.

Agitated members stalled the proceedings, seeking a discussion on the issue by suspending the question hour.

The chief minister assured that the discussion on the lands issue will be taken up after question hour. Despite the Speaker's repeated pleas, they refused to go back to their seats. Thereupon, Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved the resolution for the suspension of 35 members for the question hour.

When the suspended members refused to leave the House, marshals escorted them out.

The opposition members staged a boisterous demonstration in the assembly premises to protest against their suspension. They demanded resignation of the chief minister and his prosecution for illegal possession of lands, which he recently surrendered to the government.
