Gulistan, a rare manuscript of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb written in a gold letters, was stolen from a school library in Bihar's Gaya district.

According to police sources in Gaya, Gulistan written in Persian by Aurangzeb, was stolen from the library of Tekari Raj Inter School under Tekari sub-division on Sunday night.

Gaya Superintendent of Police Amit Jain confirmed the theft of the rare manuscript. "Police have been investigating the case and have interrogated the school prinicipal Brijnandan Singh on suspicion," Jain told rediff.com over telephone on Tuesday.

Police admitted that there was no security arrangement to protect the rare manuscript.

It is said that the value of the stolen manuscript was around Rs 1 crore in the market. About 200 years ago, the Maharaja of Alwar had sold this rare manuscript to his Tekari Maharaj for Rs 10,000. It was later donated to the school by the queen of Tekari Rani Rajroop Kunwar.
