Former Cricketer and Bharatiya Janata Party member from Amritsar [Images] Navjot Singh Sidhu would be missing from a number of television programmes and advertisements following the verdict of the Punjab and Haryana high court. The court convicted Sidhu of culpable homicide on Friday.
According to a rough estimates Sidhu, who was riding high on Sidhuisms over the years would suffer huge financial losses. "I should say that his losses would be around Rs five crore a year," said a top cricket writer who have been following the fortunes of Sidhu as member of parliament closely. Sidhu is the only MP to appear in a number of advertisements and programmes.
His contract with NDTV alone gets him around Rs 1 crore per year according to insiders of the organisation. Likewise he gets almost the same amount for promoting Luminous inverters as well as the State Bank of [Get Quote] Patiala. Lately Sidhu had started advertising for a optical firm as well. His programme on NDTV is a hit with the viewers.
