Chinese President Hu Jintao may visit India this year, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] indicated on Wednesday.

Replying to a debate on the Indo-US civil nuclear deal in the Lok Sabha, Singh said his government has been seeking to build new relations with all countries, including China.

He said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao had visited India last year and 'we hope to welcome' President Hu Jintao this year'.

The relations with China are taking a turn for the better, the prime minister said.

Similar was the case with many other countries including the US, Russia [Images], Japan [Images] and the European Union, he added.
