The central government should provide suitable jobs to one member each from the families of those who lost their lives in the July 11 Mumbai blasts, Mumbai Congress chief Gurudas Kamat has urged in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images].

The government should consider employment for survivors also, to help them recover and lead a normal life, Kamat said.

The letter, written by Kamat last month, also sought tax exemption for the compensation given to the families of the dead and to the injured. The Finance Minister P Chidambaram accepted the demand on Monday.
