Floods in Andhra Pradesh have so far claimed 94 lives, with more deaths being reported from the worst affected districts of East Godavari and Khammam.

The flood level in the upper reaches of Godavari and all its major tributaries is showing a declining trend but the situation in the Godavari delta area on the coast is still grim due to major breaches on the bunds of two major tributaries -- Vasishta Godavari and Gautami -- in East Godavari district, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy said on Monday evening.

Later, Reddy, along with Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, left for East Godavari to monitor the situation. He will camp for a couple of days there.

Reddy said that in all, 160 villages were affected in East Godavari district and 28 villages in West Godavari district.
