Super gifts for Raksha Bandhan

Bollywood takes the Rakhi road

August 01, 2006

Raksha Bandhan is a time for reinforcing the brother-sister relationship.

Today, of course, Raksha Bandhan is a time also for gifts, the brother forking out for the precious rakhi the sister ties on him.

And no longer is it a gift of money or sweets. In keeping with the times, it can now range from chocolates to perfumes, or even porcelain and diamonds.

Truly, sibling love is priceless.

Even the humble rakhi has undergone a transformation. Today you get them in all shapes and size, some even made from gold and silver.

Distance is no more a factor either. Both rakhis and the gifts are couriered across continents and time zones.

After all, where true love is concerned, what are mundane considerations like expense, distance etc!

Naturally, all of us have our own favourite Raksha Bandhan anecdote, it could be about the festival itself, or the gift that was given/received, or the words spoken.

It could be touching, humorous, emotional -- a few words, but it says everything about the brother-sister bond.

What is your favourite Raksha Bandhan memory? Tell us!
