Quota: Chandigarh medical students join protest

April 27, 2006 17:36 IST

Medical students came out in large numbers on Thursday to protest against the Centre's proposed move to reserve seats for backward classes in central educational institutions.

The students from the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh expressed their solidarity with the medical students who staged protests in Delhi over the issue on Wednesday.

"The government is talking about making India a developed nation by 2020, but such steps will affect our goal and our image which has improved globally," said Sahil, a final year medical student from the GMCH.
