The Patna high court has dismissed the bail petition of Rashtriya Janata Dal member of Parliament Pappu Yadav on Thursday in connection with murder of the Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Ajit Sarkar.

The court dismissed the bail petition of Pappu Yadav on the ground that there was no basis to grant him bail and observed that he will have to stay in judicial custody for at least six month more.

Yadav is the main accused in the murder of Sarkar in 1998 in Purnea district.

Yadav's lawyer said that Pappu Yadav filed a bail petition in the court after the Supreme Court directed him to approach the high court for bail in the case.

Yadav is currently lodged in the high security Tihar jail in New Delhi. He was shifted from Beur jail in Patna to Tihar jail on the order of the court in 2005 before the state assembly polls in Bihar.
