Lamenting that development in this prestigious Lok Sabha constituency was not up to par since 'a different party is ruling the state', Congress MP Rahul Gandhi [Images] said on Wednesday that the pace would pick up after the May 8 by-election.
Rahul, who visited Harchandpur Assembly constituency to garner votes for his mother, Congress president Sonia Gandhi [Images], addressed several meetings and met a cross-section of the people.
The MP from neighbouring Amethi Lok Sabha constituency claimed that whatever development was taking place in the area was due to the efforts of the Gandhi-Nehru family.
However, the 'pace of development is not satisfactory as there is a different party ruling in the state', he said. He said it would pick up after the May 8 bypoll, in which his mother is seeking re-election from the constituency. He said his mother would also shortly be visiting the area to meet the people.
