A 19-year-old Indian-American, Kaavya Viswanathan, who was born in Chennai and raised in Scotland and New Jersey, has been creating headlines in the US.

Next, it was for the fact that certain sections of Viswanathan's first novel -- How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild And Got a Life -- had been plagiarized from Megan McCafferty's novels Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings.
