It is a shot in the arm for the beleaguered Congress party in Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi's [Images] announcement that he is ready to take charge and turn around the party's fortunes in a state where it has been declining steeply since 1989, is certain to revive the sinking hopes of the party's cadre.

Rahul does his bit for Sonia

In the state to campaign for his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi [Images], who is contesting the Rae Bareli assembly bypoll, Rahul said, "I am ready to take the responsibility of leading the party in the state if the high command so asks.  If the central leadership gives me the responsibility, I can turn around the fortunes of the party in the state."

Can Rahul turn things around for the Congress in UP? Is he the messiah the party has been waiting for so eagerly? Tell us what you think!
