The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday said the "minority appeasement policies" of the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government had led to the communal violence in Aligarh.

"The violence yesterday in Aligarh is yet another result of the appeasement policies of the Congress-led Centre and the UP government. Both of them have been encouraging intolerance in some particular communities," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

Party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi accused the Samajwadi Party government in the state of "fomenting" communal trouble and demanded the President's rule in Uttar Pradesh.
