A Bharatiya Janata Party delegation, led by party vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, will meet Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon on Monday and complain against the alleged breach of the poll code by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] for announcing an economic package for the victims of ethnic violence in Assam's Karbi-Anglong district.

The party will also seek to convince the Election Commission that the case against BJP general secretary and the leader in charge of Assam, Pramod Mahajan, for violating the model code of conduct was "based on false reports and allegations", Naqvi told PTI.

Mahajan addressed a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday, a day after the campaigning for the first phase ended.

Party spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said, "The prime minister has violated the model code of conduct and code of governance. Such promises during electioneering are definitely breach of the election code of conduct."
