The Mumbai police would record filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's statement in the case of alleged conspiracy by Bollywood starlet Preeti Jain to kill him.

"We have called him (Bhandarkar) to record his statement in the case," DCP Sanjay Rastogi told PTI.

Police non-committal on test revelations

It may be recalled that Bhandarkar had been provided a security cover in wake of the alleged murder plot hatched by Jain, with the help of a former aide of gangster-turned-politican Arun Gawli.

Mumbai police claimed that Preeti gave a 'supari' or contract to former Gawli aide Naresh Pardesi to eliminate Bhandarkar.

Investigations in the case led to the arrest of not only Preeti and Pardesi, but also three other men who were allegedly supposed to execute the plan.

A country-made revolver and three cartridges have also been seized, while Preeti and Pardesi were made to undergo scientific tests to assess the details of the alleged conspiracy.
