Delhi: NRI arrested in connection with car theft

Police have arrested an 82-year-old non resident Indian in connection with a car theft following which a city court on Wednesday remanded him to one-day custody for interrogation.

Nirmal Jeet Singh Hoon was arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the case registered after the recovery of a stolen car near the residence of a Union Minister recently.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar allowed custodial interrogation of Hoon as the prosecution said it was necessary for recovery many stolen cars in the capital and there were several cases registered against him.

The anticipatory bail petition of Hoon, who lives in posh Greater Kailash locality of south Delhi, was rejected by several courts, including the Delhi High Court.
