Gaya District Magistrate Chaitanya Prasad has been removed on the order of Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon, official sources said on Friday.

The sources said Prasad was removed following Tandon's reported displeasure over poll-preparedness in the district during his visit to Gaya on Wednesday. Begusarai District Magistrate Sandeep Poundrik has replaced Prasad, according to a notification issued by the personnel department.

Prasad is the fourth district magistrate to be removed after the Election Commission reported displeasure over poor performance of poll preparedness in Bihar in the last fortnight.

Last month three district magistrates of Nalanda, Khagaria and Sheohar were removed on the order of EC.
