Andhra derailment: 13 trains cancelled

Due to breaches in the railway track in Andhra Pradesh, the Southern Railway today announced the cancellation of eight long distance trains scheduled to leave tomorrow, besides the diversion of an equal number of trains.

The trains cancelled were: Chennai-Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express; Chennai-Vijayawada Pinakini Express; Chennai-Delhi GT Express; Chennai-Hyderabad Express; Alleppey-Dhanbad/Tata Express; Chennai-Jammu Tawi Express; Nagercoil-Howrah Express; and Chennai Central-Kakinada Circar Express. The Raptisagar Express between Thiruvananthapuram and Gorakhpur would be diverted via Dharmavaram, Guntakkal, Wadi and Secunderabad, while the Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Kerala [Images] Express would run via Tirupattur, Krishnarajapuram, Dharmavaram and Gooty.

The Thiruvananthapuram-Guwahati Express would be diverted through Dharmapuram, Gooty, Nandyal and Guntur, while the Chennai-Delhi Rajdhani would be diverted through Renigunta, Wadi, Daund, Manmad and Itrasi. The Tamil Nadu Express would run via Renigunta, Gooty and Secunderabad, while the Navjivan would run via Guntakkal, Wadi, Kalyan and Surat. The Chennai-Howrah Coromandel Express would run via Renigunta, Gooty and Guntur. The Chennai-Howrah Mail, scheduled to leave tonight but which was announced to have been cancelled, would instead run via Renigunta, Guntakkal and Guntur, while the Chennai-Hyderabad Charminar and Tamil Nadu Express would run via Renigunta, Guntakkal and Guntur.

Five special trains from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore, Nagercoil, Bangalore and Kumbakonam would be run today to clear the extra rush of passengers, the SCR said.

Uni adds:

The South Western Railway today cancelled five trains and diverted two due to breaches in the Gudur-Vijayawada section.

While the Rajendranagar-Bangalore City Sanghamitra Express has been cancelled for the day, the Kakinada-Bangalore city Seshadri Express today and tomorrow and in the return direction have been cancelled on October 30 and 31. The Bhubaneshwar-Yeshvantpur Express has been cancelled for tomorrow and in the return direction on October 31, an SWR release said.

The Guwahati-Bangalore City Express scheduled to leave tomorrow and the Howrah-Yesvantpur Express on October 29 and 30 would be diverted via Guntur, Nandyal, Gooty and Dharmavaram.

The Yesvantpur-Howrah Express scheduled to leave at 1845 hrs today has been rescheduled to depart at 2330 hrs due to the late running of the pairing train. It would run via Dharmavaram, Nandyal, Guntur and Vijayawada, the release said.
