Rain Experience: It was a horried experence since I am a marketing guy and work for an media co, As you know that we guys have to be on the field always and as I live in Bangalore you would have read about bangalore, I cannot blam the govt totaly for the lapse in Infrastructure I fell the govt should promote secondary cities like Mysore, Hassan, Mangalore and Hubli etc, telling the new investors in IT and IETS industry to set up shop in these secondary cities of karnataka where they can get skilled manpower it is the time to try talent from these palaces which has a large no of Engg colleages and educational institutations and not depend upon Banglaore which is over grown in all sence population, vechical population Etc and its bad out in Bangalore and the lake bed areas which were places where rain water used to flow and get collectd where lot of illegal constructions have come up and bangalore which was a wonderful place to live has become choicatic costly to live I request the IT majors to logg out of bangalore and logg in to new places, and help the people liveing in bangalore to live a peaceful life and it was really diffuclt for the common man to suffer in a bangalore which was once a lovely place.

Rain Experience: Just simple.... I actually enjoyed the rain during my travel to office today. Usually it takes 1 Hr 30 min to 2 Hrs to commute.. But today, it took 6 Hrs for me to reach office ( located in Tambaram Santorium ) South Chennai.. from my home ( located in Old washermenpet ) North Chennai (approx 35 KM distance). As usual, I started at around 7:20 AM from home and reached Chennai - Beach railway station at around 8 AM. (Usually it takes just 10-15 min to reach).... The Railway Officials were anouncing that trains will stand cancelled for some hours due to tracks immersed under 1-2 feet water..... Luckily, i got into a bus that goes to Tambaram at around 8:30 AM and reached office around 1:15 PM..... Between Saidapet Bus Stop and Guindy round tana ( a stretch of 1.5 KM ), it took 2 Hrs 15 min to cross this stretch... and that's the horrible part of my travel today..... Usually, it takes 5-10 min to cross this place. Now in office, not planning to go home for today. May be will go to my friends place near by... After so long, Chennaiites are remembered by the rain gods... and most chennaiites welcome it...

Rain Experience: Personally Me and my friends were kept @ bay @ work, @ play, @ shopping and many a activity. Invariablly, vegetable prices keep raising, travel becomes a bigger difficulty, mud and slush finds its way into our houses, we are awaiting epidermic. I suggest, this a bigger lesson for government and individuals. Government to put more mind into planning. Build more lakes to save this water, proper drains, and also have soaking pits along the roads, in parks, in almost every building. Individuals to keep away from directly or indirectly pushing. ( say avoid building houses in low lying areas, Building or blocking drains etc. )

Rain Experience: Kudos to Bangalore and the Construction Agencies ------------------------ My apartments has a basement parking which got flooded as the water gushed in from the next compound braking the compund wall. Two cars including mine was been drowned completely. Fireforce was called in to pump out the water at 7:00pm and they had to continuously pump it till 4:30 am. Now my car is at the service center with another 25 of them waiting for their turn to be cleaned and dried. So like most of the Bangaloreans my Diwali is also spoilt..:(

Rain Experience: Its bad to see Bangalore city with such problems. I am personally not much affected, but i feel that the Government must improve the infrastructure and provide proper drainage systems. Secondly, the public must be well educated about the infrastructure. When there are no rains, we find more waste material in drainages. This causes main problem for smooth water flow. The public should be educated to keep the city neat and clean. And for those places where there is no proper drainage, the Govt should provide one. Its the people + Govt who can together help such situations.

Rain Experience: I think common man is to blame more than the government for this predicament. If people understand that throwing garbage in open drains is going to hit them back, it will solve the problem. Also, if they maintain some traffic sense while negotiating water logged roads, it will help the traffice a lot. People just don't have civic sense and expect government to do everything for them. Why can't the shopkeepers on Hosur road in Bangalore spend 100 rs per month and get the drains in front of their shop cleaned - the way they clean their shop?

Rain Experience: I am a resident of Pai Layout Off Old Madras Road, Tuesday evening was the worst nightmare. While bringing the children home from school, we were caught in a deluge on the highway, but yet managed to reach the 1st main road of Pai Layout here the water level was much higher and the current was swift. The vehicle (a Maruti 800) stalled and water entered the car. The children were very frightened so I had no other way but to abandon the car on the middle of the road. Some time later I returned to the car with a friend to try and push it somewhere safer. There was hardly anybody on the road to seek help it was very cold standing in knee-deep water when it started to rain again, we managed to push the car for couple of meters. Suddenly a stranger walked towards us and offered to start the vehicle. I gave him the key and he started the vehicle with some pushing the car moved in the water, he drove some distance and parked the vehicle on a driveway. I requested him if he can take the vehicle till my house, despite the fact that he had waded through the water for quite a distance in the rain, he readily agreed. He drove the car through the water and took the vehicle till my house gate, he kept the engine running and advised me not to switch off at least for an hour. The Good Samaritan refused to accept some money offered to him for his kindness. I learnt that his name is Vijay and he works for TCS. He had come to Pai Layout to drop his boss. He waded back through the waters to the main road with a smile. I felt sorry that he had to cover the distance twice for my sake. But I am happy that I came across a good-hearted soul during the deluge. Thank you once again Mr.Vijay. SMK MENON

Rain Experience: We often refer our IT industry with that of USA. Even rains have unleashed that similarity...after hurricane rita,katrina,willma...and we after tsunami, mumbai in august and now ...something to do with raingods ! I remember 'The day after tommorow' movie whenever i experience horrifying floods ! Its the Supreme's plan and only HE can change or else some divine person in human form can ? - i suspect !!!!

Rain Experience: I have lived in this city for more than 18 years. The drains were cleared last time around but the pictures don't reflect the state of a proper drain channel in chennai. Will the government just trun a blind eye to this, just because it rains ocassionally ? There are close to 15 subways in the city and every time it pours it fills it up. Did they ever plan before building it ?

Rain Experience: A flooded Chennai existed only in my dreams. Though I am not living in Madras now, I can imagine people rubbing their eyes in disbelief. I lived in Chennai for eight years - the best eight years in my life despite all the shortcomings which people grumble. But I have not such rains. Maybe for an entire generation, this will be a difficult situation to deal with. Maybe, Chennai will not get rains for another two years as it has received much this time. May Madras tide over the murky waters....

Rain Experience: Well Well Well... As an average office-goer I ventured into the Office Bus today in spite of rumors of a public holiday... It all started then: inundated roads, drenched citizens... Oh God wats worng with Chennai ??? Its been almost a decade since it rained in Chennai leave alone floods... The Rain Gods finally smiled at Chennai, Mumbai's poorer cousin... As a part of Chennai's million strong IT community, I too had my share to get into the progressive IT Highway (An Old Road that leads to Mahabalipuram dotted with IT Majors and rechristened as IT Highway)... Right from the start my 1.3 megapixel camera twinned with my mobile was at work... Any free lancer wud have envied my Clicks ! Water, Water, Water its everywhere... The pallikaranai marshlands was defaced and it was wearing the mask of the Bay of Bengal... The Roads everywhere for a change looked like navigable waterways... For an average Chennaite these are unprecedented !!! A city known for its water scarcity didnt know what it cud do when surplus water encircled it... Finally the eventfull day ended with a journey back home that started @ 15:15 hrs IST and ended at 18:45hrs IST... Yup the traffic was its best nothing moved at all except for the running water and floating garbages !

Rain Experience: It ridiculous to consider India as the next superpower when we cant take care of our own people. I as a citizen of India demand a decent living for the taxes i pay and i certainly ask for accountability from the administration, governance whatever nonsense we have presiding over us. We need to institutionalize Capital punishment for the corrupt politicians, officers, businessmen who are looting away this country blind and filling up their coffers. Shame of these bastards where their own bretheren suffer in agony of no basic amenities. In the name of petty political gains these rascals are pitting common folk against each other and taking a swipe at our money. Its time there was a citizen action to throw out these rascals out of their seats and assume control of our destinies. I think thats what Swaraj is supposed to mean, not been governed by idiots who are busy looting you and me.

Rain Experience: We are staing in a fairly well planned layout in Old madras road with about 1200 flats paying taxes to the government. for the last 2-3 years we are experiancing extreme problem of flooding in the roads( we dont have roads but i dont know what to call them) Water flows from the nearby lake whose sluice valve gets opened when it rains. we are then flooded with knee deep water for abouut 2-3 days till the rain gets over. Ca govenence be so cool to such peoples problems. Even the chiefminister visited the place long back but why only he knows??? god only saves us that is the fate of People staying at pai layout
